Find Your Niche

Are you stuck?   Are you changing directions? Are you planning to write a book?   Are you starting a new business or nonprofit?  Are you looking for a new career?  If so, finding your specific niche, your passion or purpose in life is essential if you want to achieve success with your new endeavor.   Finding your niche is the perfect job for your creative half.

Why should I use the creative half of my brain to find my own niche?

1.    It already knows you better than you know yourself.  It knows not just your history, your emotions, your gifts, your challenges, your fascinations, it also knows everything you’ve ever heard, read, touched, felt, learned or experienced.  It has synthesized all this information into 3-D, holographic comprehension.  It knows your perfect niche AND where you’d be most satisfied.   The rational half the brain is NOT suited to coming up with a niche that you both love and at the same time enables you to achieve your full potential as an individual or organization.

2.    It knows exactly what will keep you motivated. The ideal niche is your own, personal unique focus on meeting a particular need in the world that you can fulfill through a unique combination of your passions, talents, ideas, creations and your love.   Yes, love.  It’s the missing, underrated equation.   If your niche is developed as a result of cold, calculated marketing strategy (rational half brain thinking), you might run the risk of losing energy or motivation when you are faced with challenges.   You should be motivated by more than success.     If your journey is enjoyable, too, you have a much better chance of getting to your destination.  Let your creative half knows exactly what you love and will help you with that idea.  It’s what it does best!  Your niche should feel GREAT, if you want to have the energy to keep on going.   You also have to understand your full potential and you should know what you love.   The great energy that comes from fulfilling your mission, purpose or niche in life will carry you the distance however long or difficult that is.

3.    Your creative half can help you solve challenges along the way.  Your creative half is a genius.  Even Einstein used it to help him solve the most intricate problems of physics.  It’s all stored up there, just waiting for you to ask. If you don’t know who you really are or what you are truly capable of, then it’s hard to know which niche to follow .  You can get lost.   You can run into challenges.  Your creative half – with its genius insight – can help.  It’s always there available to you in an instant.

4.    Your creative half is phenomenally innovative.   Because you are unique, your experiences are unique and the information you’ve gathered is unique, what your creative half will come up with is custom tailored and unique to you alone AND it will therefore be unique in the world.   It will either feel like a great, innovative discovery or, if you have been listening to your creative half at least some of the time, it will be obvious to you.

How can I trust what my creative half shows me? How do I know this is the right niche for me?

1.    It simply feels right and the idea of it feels great. Your creative half knows exactly what you LOVE.  When you fall in love, you just know.  All good things in our life feel great.   Trusting your creative half is a lot like trusting anyone you love.   You have to open up to it, be fascinated with what it shows you.   It will give you a sense of purpose – a raison d’etre.

2.    It makes perfect and obvious sense.     Every aspect of it ties to something else in your life and with what you already know.  No matter what angle you examine it from, it will make sense.

3.    Evidence.  Trust can also develop over time when you see enough evidence of the results.
Here is the spiritual part.  When you follow your niche, uncanny, synchronistic little signs appear to validate or give you the spiritual equivalent of a “high five.”  The right people show up at the right time.   Just the money you need shows up at the right time.  This can happen so often, that it will no longer be surprised or doubt.

But shouldn’t finding my niche be the result of my rational thinking mind?  Everywhere else I look, there are market studies or future trends to watch for.  There are aptitude tests I can take or career counselors I can talk to.   I’ve always trusted facts, not my intuiton, feelings or imagination.

1.    How has trusting your rational mind been working for you?   Your rational half will always lead you to trust others rather than yourself.   If you do not know what your niche is, or you haven’t learned to tap into and trust your creative half, your rational half will tell you that your best recipe for success is to copy others who seem to know better.   But following someone else’s idea of what is good for you almost never works.   Your happiness will depend on a nebulous outcome “out there.“  Since you may not have enough energy to deal with inevitable challenges,   you can easily wind up feeling like a failure.  You’ll feel like you’re never good enough.   You’re under constant stress.  That’s because you are living up to outside expectations instead of fulfilling your own potential in your own way.  All you need is determination to find your own passion NOW.

2.    Everything is clearer when you know your niche. When you know your special niche, you know your audience.  Decisions are much easier.  Your next steps are much clearer.   Instead of being stressed or depressed, you’ll feel energized.   Work becomes meaningful.  Miracles start happening.

3.    The rational mind is not the source of your genius!  The rational (usually left) half of the brain can actually distort information because it has to squeeze it into language – which is slow, linear and incapable of 3-D comprehension.   Have you heard of Betty Edwards’ classic “Drawing on the Right-Side of the Brain”?   The reason people can’t draw exactly what they see is because they tend to convert what they see into language first.   Eliminate language and people who thought they could never draw are instantly draw photographically accurate images!   It’s an amazing “aha” moment.   It is estimated that 80% of Nobel Prize winners obtained their discoveries through sudden insight – not through a rational, linear process.

How long does it take to find my own niche?

The process is a simple guided visualization that I take you through.  What takes more time is additional evidence from both your rational and creative half.    The whole process takes about an hour – more if you have doubts, but, if you are not convinced after three hours, you never will be.

How much does it cost?

I charge a special rate of $60 per hour.   If you don’t come up with an instant vision of your niche, I will refund you immediately.
